Raymond P. Thie, 94, passed away August 29, 2015, was born in Batesville, Ind., May 25, 1921. Ray served in the Navy during WWII.
He spent his life helping others. Ray worked for the Indiana State Police in communications for 25 years. He was also a volunteer firefighter and fire chief for the New Palestine Indiana Fire Department. He was one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians trained for that department.
Ray was also very active in his church, serving as a choir director, Sunday school teacher and member of the Church Council in New Palestine and Sunday school teacher and Deacon at the Presbyterian Church in Scipio, Indiana.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Sandra Fong (Garrick); son, David Thie; four grandsons; two great- grandsons and a great- grand daughter.
Services will be held at 1:30p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at the Scipio Presbyterian Church and at St. John's United Church of Christ in Batesville at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015.
Memorial contributions may be made to Scipio Presbyterian Church or St. John's United Church in Batesville.
