Norman D. Tunison
Norman D. Tunison, 84, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at Golden Living Centers – Brandywine. He was born on Sept. 5, 1931, in Rhinelander, Wisc., as the son of Arthur and Emma (Bloomquist) Tunison.
He graduated from McCordsville High School in 1949. Norman served in the Navy during the Korean War. He married Mary Frances (Netherton) on October 9, 1954 in McCordsville.
He worked for Ivy Tech Community College as a teacher for auto body for 20 years before retiring in 1993. Mr. Tunison was a member of Eden United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school superintendent and served on the administrative board. He was also a member of the Fortville Masonic Lodge #207 and Scottish Rite. He loved working on cars and repairing small engines.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Mary Frances Tunison of Greenfield; daughter, Teri (Mark) Weddle of Mooresville, Ind.; three sons, Steve (Sheila) Tunison of Indianapolis, David (Laura) Tunison of Indianapolis, and Stan Tunison of Robbinsdale, Minn.; sister, Arma Jean Marsh of Hillsboro, Org.; six grandchildren, Angie and Ben Weddle, Kyle (Lisa) Tunison, Chad (Charly) Tunison, Megan Tunison, and Amanda (Sasha Sbliev) Tunison and five great- grandchildren, Grady, Raelee, Sawyer, Connor, and Caylee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emma Tunison; brother, Richard Tunison and sister, Rozella Hugger.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, also at the mortuary. Pastor David Crittenden will be officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
