Final service set for historic church

CUMBERLAND — The church that has been at the center of controversy between its members and the town of Cumberland will conduct its final service at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The parish of St. John United Church of Christ, 11000 East Washington St., Indianapolis, is set to leave the church and move into a temporary site by Sunday, Oct. 11.

Church leaders say the service is open to everyone and hope all current and former members will attend.
