NEW CASTLE — The Hancock County Boys and Girls Club took the checkered flag at the New Castle Motorsports Park last month.

Several local business competed to raise money for the organization during the mini-corporate challenge, Racing for our Kids Future, a go-kart competition, and it was a success.

The event, in conjunction with the Hancock County Boys and Girls Club, raised $10,500 from the benefit.

Several local businesses participated with four drivers per team. Those involved included Ninestar Connect, Greenfield Banking Co., Kemper CPA, Dellen Auto, Inskeep Ford, Dave Sego Builders, Dr Pepper, Farm Bureau Insurance, Service Master, Ro’s Bar and Grill, Miller Eads Electric, Brand and Morelock, Team Apple, Gray Auto and the Greenfield Daily Reporter.

Team Dr. Pepper was crowned the Grand Champion with a 78-lap time of 1 hour, 30 minutes and 32.058 seconds. The team captured the Dismore Traveling Trophy, which will be displayed in its business for an entire year.

Miller-Eads Electric was runner-up at 1:31:13.043. Team Racing for Kids was third.
