Man jailed on child molest charges

GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man was arrested Monday amid allegations he sexually assaulted a teenager multiple times over five years, according to court documents.

Jerry W. Privett Jr., 47, faces two felony charge of child molest after a girl told her high school counselor recently Privett had harmed her repeatedly from 2009 to 2015.

The girl told Department of Child Services investigators the abuse ranged from fondling to sex, court records state.

Privett was interviewed by Hancock County Sheriff’s Department detectives earlier this month but never returned after officers asked him to take a lie detector test, court records state.

Privett face on Class A felony, which carries a penalty of up to 50 years, and a Class C felony, which carries a penalty of up to 8 years.
