County’s home prices show increase in July

HANCOCK COUNTY — A report released by the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors shows an increase in home prices across Hancock County in the month of July.

Median home prices in July increased 14.3 percent when compared with the previous year, and the average price rose by 10.3 percent, according to the report.

Taste of Hancock County set for downtown plaza

HANCOCK COUNTY — The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce and FUSE Inc. will present Taste of Hancock County on Sept. 19.

The event will be on the courthouse plaza in downtown Greenfield and will feature food samples from Hancock County restaurants, along with live music from area artists.

Admission costs $5 per person and is free for those 12 years old and younger.

Greenfield-Central Foundation plans gala

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield-Central School Foundation will play host to a fundraiser Sept. 19 at the Creative Arts and Event Center in downtown Greenfield.

The Red Letter Gala, which will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m., will highlight the accomplishments of past and current Greenfield-Central students. Proceeds will go toward several foundation initiatives, such as its “Wish Upon a Star” program, which collects donations from community members that cover the costs of classroom supplies for teachers.

Dress for the event is business formal. The deadline to RSVP is today, Sept. 4.

Cornhole tournament to benefit local nonprofits

GREENFIELD — The eighth annual Cornhole for a Cause tournament is scheduled for Sept. 19.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hancock County, Edelweiss Equine Assisted Therapy Center and the Greenfield Youth Baseball Association.

Participants will compete in teams of two.

Pre-registration for the tournament costs $60, or register for $80 at the event, which will take place at Heartland Resort, 1613 W. County Road 300N. Activities will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
