Joseph Franklin Walls, 89, born April 15, 1926, to Earl Walls and Dewie Kivet in Hazelwood, Ind. (Hendricks Co.).

Joe was in the WWII Army Air Force B17, and a member of the 401 Bombardment Group (H), Association Inc. Air Force (8th Air Force), past Master of the Cumberland F&AM #726 (now Oaklandon Lodge #140 F&AM), Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, VFW #7119, retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Co. in 1982.

He moved to Sebring, Fla., soon after his retirement, where he was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of Sebring and volunteered for 11 years for Sebring Adventist Hospital, installing lifeline units. After 19 years, he moved back home, where he joined NPU Methodist Church of New Palestine.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Eads Walls; daughters, Deborah Cook (Terry) of New York, N.Y. and Brenda Frey (Jeff) of New Palestine; grandchildren, Alison Michaels (Todd) of Sacramento, Calif., Eliot Molin of Gurnee, Ill., Natalie Bailey (Chas) of Greenfield and Stephen Horan (Jessica) of Lexington, Ky.; great- grandchildren, Anna, Emma, Charles, Luke Bailey and Ian Michaels; brother, Bill Walls of Coatsville, Ind. and sister, Marjorie Mitchell of Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven; his parents; two sisters, Helen Walls and Eleanor Thompson; along with three brothers, Carl, Bob and Jim Walls.

Funeral services will be conducted by Cumberland Lodge and Roger Holder of New Palestine United Methodist Church. Funeral services for Joseph will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service at New Palestine United Methodist Church 3565 S. 500 W. New Palestine, IN 46163.
