Marauders XC boys ranked in top 25

The Mt. Vernon Marauders boys cross-country team received a top-25 ranking by hoosierxc.com in this week’s poll.

The Marauders were ranked 19th last week.

Players needed for Indy Girls Hoops team

Greenfield basketball players are needed to compete in the Indy Girls Hoops League this fall.

The Greenfield girls travel team is open to sixth-grade players with games played every other Sunday afternoon beginning in September.

The deadline to join the team is Monday.

Run, Walk, Roll Against Bullying approaching

Registration is open for the Third Annual Southern Hancock Run, Walk, Roll Against Bullying event.

Open to participants of all ages, the event will be held on Sept. 12 at 9 a.m. and offers a one-mile walk and a 4.5-mile walk.

The cost is $5 for students in kindergarten through 12th grade and $10 for adults. Children under school age are free unless they want a T-shirt.

Participants will be allowed to park at New Palestine High School with the one-mile walk beginning on that campus. The 4.5-mile walk will start at Doe Creek Middle School. School buses will transport participants to Doe Creek.

Participants can walk, run or roll in wheel chairs.

Following the event, entertainment, information on preventing bullying and refreshments will be provided at New Palestine High School.

Each participant and volunteer who registers and pays for the event by Sept. 4 will receive a free T-shirt, which can be picked up on Sept. 11 in the New Palestine High School bookstore during school hours or the morning of the walk.

To register, go to corp.newpal.k12.in.us and click on the quick link for registration. Participants can pay online (processing fee will be added) or send a check made payable to DCMS to Doe Creek Middle School. Please indicate in the memo that the payment is for Run, Walk, Roll and place the registration name on check.
