Cougars baseball planning golf outing
The ninth annual Greenfield-Central High School Baseball Golf Outing is scheduled to take place Sept. 20.
The event will be at Royal Hylands Golf Club in Knightstown.
Registration for the Florida Scramble outing will begin at noon with golf to start at 1 p.m. Dinner will follow.
The cost to participate is $75 per person and $280 per group of four. The fee includes golf, a cart and dinner.
There are four levels of sponsorship available:
The “Grand Slam” sponsorship at $500 includes: (1) foursome, name on the welcome banner on the day of the outing and (1) hole sponsorship sign.
The “Home Run” sponsorship at $250 includes: name on the welcome banner the day of the outing and (1) hole sponsorship sign.
The contest sponsorship at $150 involves options for: longest drive, closest to the pin and putting. Sponsorship includes sponsor signage.
Hole sponsorship costs $100 and includes: (1) hole sponsorship sign.

Little Cougar hoops registration open
Registration is open for the Greenfield-Central Little Cougars Girls Basketball League.
The feeder league is designed to offer girls from kindergarten through sixth grade the opportunity to play in a structured program with a focus on skills development and fundamentals.
The league runs from late August through the first week of October. The deadline to register is Tuesday, with practices and games set to begin the week of Aug. 31.
Registration forms must be submitted by the deadline to ensure your child receives a league shirt. Cost to join the league is $40 per player. Checks must be made payable to Greenfield Girls Basketball. Registration forms can be obtained through Greenfield-Central High School girls basketball coach Doug Laker at 317-448-0853.
The completed forms should be mailed, Attn. Doug Laker, 810 N. Broadway, Greenfield, IN 46140.
All league games will be played Wednesday nights (and one | Sept. 29, a Tuesday) at the Greenfield-Central High School fieldhouse. Game times will run from 6 to 8 p.m. depending on the number of teams.
Each team will practice once a week at the fieldhouse. Practices will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with each session lasting an hour in length.
For players in kindergarten through third grade, the league will be instructional.
Positions for volunteer coaches are available. For those interested in being a coach, contact Laker to obtain a registration form. A mandatory coaches meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in the fieldhouse for those invited to volunteer.
Player physicals are recommended but not required.
