Youth travel basketball tryouts this weekend
Tryouts for the Greenfield-Central youth travel boys basketball teams are being conducted Saturday.
Players in first- through sixth-grade are encouraged to participate. Tryouts will be at the Greenfield-Central High School Fieldhouse.
Sessions for players in grades first and second will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. For third- and fourth-graders, tryouts will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Players in grades fifth and sixth will have tryouts from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Hancock Boys & Girls Club hosting fundraiser event
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hancock County is hosting the Inaugural Racing for Kids at New Castle Motorsports Park on Aug. 26.
There will 60 drivers from 15 area businesses participating in the event from 5 to 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.
The team entrants are: Greenfield Banking, Dellen, Inskeep Ford, Kemper CPA, Dave Sego Builders, Dr Pepper, Farm Bureau Insurance, Ro’s Bar and Grill, Miller Eads Electric, Service Master, Racing for Kids team, Gray Auto, Brand and Morelock, and the Daily Reporter.
Wayne Addison will emcee the event.

Mt. Vernon all-sport passes now available
The start of a new athletics season for the 2015-16 school year has begun, and Mt. Vernon High School has year-round All-Sport Passes available.
The All-Sport Passes are good for admission into any regular-season high school athletics game/contest for the 2015-16 school year, excluding any tournaments.
MVHS attendees can save money by purchasing a MVHS All-Sport Pass in the Athletic Office at the following rates:
Senior Citizen All-Sport Pass: $45
Student All-Sport Pass: $65
Adult All-Sport Pass: $85
Family Pass (for anyone living under the same roof): $225
