Marietta (Asher) Christ, 74, of Lawrence, passed away Aug. 15, 2015. She was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Lawrence, to the late Chalmer and Geraldine (Asbury) Waddy. Marietta graduated from Lawrence Central H.S., class of 1959.
Marietta was a Homemaker, then belonging to the Biz-Z-B Homemakers club for over 50 years. She also belonged to Common Threads Club, Quilt Club, County Homemakers and the Lawrence Alumni reunion committee. She was very talented in many things – sewing, painting, singing and her passion of quilting. She had a career as a manager at Claire’s Boutique at Washington Square Mall for many years and retired as manager of Casual Male Big and Tall in 2004.
She loved her family and friends. She loved to travel, see movies, play cards and eat out. Marietta married the love of her life, George Robert Christ, in 1984.
Marietta is survived by children, Debi Hunt, Gloria (Terry) Arnold Reuter, Scott (Debbie) Christ, Jeff Christ, Ron McElroy; sister, Norma Davis; brother, Larry (Rose) Waddy of Georgia; 8 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.
Her beloved husband, George Christ; son, Bruce Asher; daughter, Lisa Wyman Webb and brother in law, Charles Davis, preceded her in death.
A calling will be from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015, with services being held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015, at Flanner and Buchanan – Geist, 7855 Cork Rd, Indpls, IN 46236. Burial will be in Old Oaklandon Cemetery, Oaklandon, IN.
