Lois L (Curry) Schaekel, 87, of Fountaintown, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Greenfield. She was born on Oct. 13, 1927, in New Palestine, as the daughter of Paul T. and Anna (Weber) Curry.  She graduated from New Palestine High School in 1945. Lois married Harold E. Schaekel in 1992.

She worked for Hancock County Circuit Court as a recorder for 19 years. Lois was a member of the Morristown Eastern Star for 50 years and the New Palestine United Meothidst Church.  She was also a member of the home economics club, and the sewing club. She loved quilting.

Lois is survived by her husband, Harold Schaekel of Fountaintown; two sons, Mick (Beverly) Cecil of Greenfield and Gary (Elaine) Cecil of Bonita Springs, Fla.; stepchildren, Chris Tilley of Morristown, Russel Reed of Milwaukee; brother, Paul T. (Mary Jane) Curry of Scottsdale, Ariz; three sisters, Elizabeth Brannam of Beech Grove, Frances Wilkinson of Indianapolis, and Jeanette Woodward of Seymour, Ind.; grandchildren, Mike, Tom, Gary, Scott, and Stephanie and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank A. Cecil; parents, Paul T. and Anna (Weber) Curry; sister, Ruth Justus; grandson, Bill and best friend, Juanita Gundrum.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at Fountaintown Cemetery. Pastor Roger Holder will be officiating.
