GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man was flown by medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital Thursday after his car struck a tree near the intersection of State Street and Keller Road in Greenfield.

Anthony Gullford, 20, lost control of his 1998 Oldsmobile while driving southbound on State Street Thursday afternoon. The car veered off the roadway and struck a tree, Greenfield police Maj. Derek Towle said.

Gullford, who fractured his leg in the accident, was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He told police he was unsure what caused him to crash.

Gullford was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident, and the car’s airbags were deployed. No other vehicles were involved in the crash, Towle said.
