Bus driver charged with reckless homicide

GREENFIELD — The driver of a church bus that overturned on Interstate 70 on July 28 killing a 6-year-old boy, has been arrested.

Charles Goodman, 53, was arrested Monday afternoon and booked into Hancock County Jail.

He’s charged with reckless homicide, a Level 5 felony, and driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor.

Police say Goodman’s license was suspended when he drove a bus of church parishioners to a youth conference in Dayton. The bus careened off the interstate, slammed into a tree and overturned on its side before catching fire. The crash killed Jacob Williams.

Goodman told investigators he fell asleep behind the wheel.
