Raymond L. Jonas, 74, of New Palestine, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice. He was born on Sept. 2, 1940, in Shelby County, as the son of Lewis and Dorothy O. (Rouse) Jonas.
He graduated from Morristown High School in 1958. He married Carolyn D. (Colvin) on Dec. 6, 1958 ,in Shelby County.
He worked for BMW Constructors for over 40 years before retiring in 2004. Mr. Jonas was a board member for Community School Corporation of Southern Hancock County for 8 years.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Carolyn Jonas of New Palestine; son, Kevin Jonas of New Palestine; daughter, Kim (Brad) Romeril of Greenfield and three grandchildren, Jordan Mattick, Brandon Jonas, and Morgan Jonas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Dorothy O. Jonas; brother, Jerry Jonas and sister, Alice Mattingly.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2015, at the mortuary with viewing one hour prior to the service. Dr. Randall Parker will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
