Greenfield-Central star picks up more offers

Incoming Cougars junior basketball star Maddie Wise recently fielded three more offers from schools hoping she’ll be wearing their uniform in 2018.

According to her travel team, the Northside Indy Magic, Wise picked up offers from Arkansas University and Western Michigan University on Wednesday and one from Bowling Green University on Tuesday, giving her 10 NCAA Division I offers in all. Ball State, Indiana, Indiana State, Wright State, Toldeo, Butler and Dayton universities previously made offers. 

On the Indy Magic website, Wise also is said to have received interest from Purdue, IUPUI, Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Eastern Illinois and Princeton.

The next chance for fans of the Cougar to see her will be July 23 to 25, playing for the Indy Magic 17U team at the U.S. Junior National Midwest Summer Showcase in Indianapolis. Greenfield-Central star Katie Wise also plays on the squad. 

Greenfield-Central soccer to host foot golf tournament

The Cougars varsity soccer program will host a foot golf tournament Aug. 8 at the Shekinah Footgolf Course in Greenfield.

The cost is $15 per player if registered in advance or $20 at the door.

Sponsorship options are available. Donors can give $500 and will receive recognition prominently displayed at registration, on one tee and in all advertising. The other option is a $50 donation, which includes recognition displayed on one tee.

Tee times range from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Registration open for Mt. Vernon youth football camp

Mt. Vernon High School is hosting youth football camps this month.

Registration forms can be found at maraudersathletics.com under Marauder HQ tab. All grades are as of fall 2015.

All football camps run from Monday to Thursday at the high school football fields. Sessions for first- and second-graders are scheduled to last from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Third- to eighth-graders will practice from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The cost per camper is $25. Interested participants must register by July 20.

Greenfield Area Soccer Club registration open

The Greenfield Area Soccer Club announced several keys dates and is accepting online registrations for the upcoming season.

Interested families and players can register for the fall season of GASC Recreational TigersFC online at greenfieldsoccer.org until July 26. Late fee registration starts July 27, with an additional $10 to cover late uniform orders.

There are no games scheduled for Labor Day or Riley Days weekend.

The GASC TigersFC league offers divisions for players from U4 to U18. Cost to play (per person) ranges from $47.50 to $62.50.
