GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Board of Works and Public Safety recently approved the purchase of a new street sweeper.

The vehicle is used to clean city streets and parking lots, said street commissioner Tyler Rankins. His department is using a 4-year-old street sweeper that isn’t helping it efficiently clean streets, he added.

The department will trade in that piece of equipment for $60,000 and will purchase the new sweeper from Brown Equipment for about $117,500. It will be used by multiple city departments.

The sweeper won’t be delivered until October.
