Jessamine “Jessie” (Clifford) Bever, 91, of Charlottesville, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Community Hospital North. She was born on Jan. 1, 1924, in McCordsville, as the daughter of Francis L. and Lillie E. (Wallace) Clifford.
She graduated from Mt. Comfort High School in 1942. Jessie married Robert F. Bever on June 8, 1946 in Greenfield.
She worked for Indiana Bell/AT&T for 39 years before retiring in 1982. Mrs. Bever attended Charlottesville United Methodist Church and was a member of Indiana Bell Retiree’s Association, Telephone Pioneers of America, Giddy Ladies and Red Hat Society. She loved quilting.
Jessie is survived by her children, Sandra “Sandy” (D.B.) Bowman and Robert E. (Pam) Bever both of Charlottesville; four grandchildren, Robbie (Stacey) Bowman, Darren (Michelle) Bowman, Jason (Denise) Bever and Heather (fiancé, Drew Hanson) Bever and six great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Keegan Bowman, Madison and Megan Bever, and Dylan and Gavin Bowman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis L. and Lillie E. Clifford; husband, Robert F. Bever; son, Steven DeWayne Bever; two brothers, Edward Wallace Clifford and Byron Dale Clifford and two sisters, Alice Ellen Perry and Laura Frances Walker.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 1 p.m. Reverend Marianne Nichols will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
