Elizabeth Lee Schurtz , 78, of New Palestine, softly closed her beautiful eyes at  2:40 a.m. July 3, 2015, for the final time ending a three year battle with cancer. As the arms of the Lord welcome her, she took just a moment to place her love in the heart of her husband, William R. Schurtz, where it shall remain for his lifetime. Elizabeth was born in Indianapolis on Sept. 3, 1936, where she would remain for the rest of her life.

Following her grade school education, she would enroll at Butler University earning both her Bachelor & Master’s degree with honors in Social Studies and History. Following graduation, she began her teaching career at Arlington High School, retiring in 1981.

She was a proud member of the Daughters of American Revolution (D.A.R) and lifelong supporter of the Williamsburg Foundation.

Preceded in death by her parents Mark and Mary Sue Grey, she is survived by six stepchildren; Christopher, Terrance, William, Mary, also Toni, Lynn and Roger Beal.

Memorial visitation will be held from 9  – 11 a.m. July 10, 2015,  at the Zion Lutheran Church located at 6513 W. 300 S, New Palestine, with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the church. Pastor Jason Taylor will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
