Carlin Brandt, 91, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. He was born March 13, 1924 in Morocco, Ind., a son of the late Edward J. and Letha (Miller) Brandt.

A 1942 graduate of Kentland High School, Carlin also graduated in 1949 from Purdue University. While at Purdue, Carlin was drafted and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He retired from Eastern Hancock High School following over 40 years as the Ag Teacher, 4-H, and FFA Leader. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #137, New Castle and the Commemorative Air Force.

Survivors include two sons, Mike (Sandra) Brandt of New Castle and Col. Keith E. (Melinda Kaye) Brandt, MD of Moore, Okla.; grandchildren, Christa (Paul) Acton of Columbus, Ind., Joshua Brandt  of Houston, Texas, David Brandt of Dayton, Ohio and Rachel Brandt of Dayton, Ohio; two great- grandchildren, Alex and Mia Brandt; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Brandt in 2014 and a brother, Oris Brandt on Dec. 7, 1941, at Pearl Harbor.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at the funeral home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
