Martha Ann Symons Brooks, 86, of Knightstown, formerly of Greenfield, died June 22, 2015, following a brief illness. She was born August 15, 1928, in Lake Worth, Fla., to the late Olin Gilbert Symons and Bertha Mae “Betty” (Harris) Symons.
Shortly after graduating from Coral Gables High School, Martha moved to Indiana to make her home in Knightstown. She married Frederic W. Brooks, Sr. on June 13, 1957. Martha worked in the offices of Greenfield physicians Dr. Robert E. Kinneman, Dr. John Moening, and Dr. Ralph Rea.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Katherine Bolyard; daughter-in-law, Sherry Brooks; grandchildren, Van Brooks (Shelley) and Jean Ann Busche (Michael); great-grandchildren Wyatt, Jacob, Morgan, Caitlynn, Michael, and Maddison; great-great-grandchildren Lily and Olivia. She is also survived by her nephew, Don Paul Symons (Becky) and their daughters, Anne, Elizabeth, and Sally.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederic W. Brooks, Sr.; daughter, Linda Gale Brooks; step-son, Frederic W. Brooks, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, J. Paul and Delois Symons.
A private celebration of Martha’s life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Arrangements were entrusted to Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence.
