Free admission offered to Newport Aquarium

NEWPORT, Ky. — Newport Aquarium is offering free admission for children 12 and under with its summer family hours promotion.

During summer family hours, which are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday through Friday, up to two children ages 12 and under receive free admission with the purchase of one full-priced adult ticket.

This offer is available online only at newportaquarium.com and runs now through Aug. 31.

Concert at area church aims to honor veterans

GREENFIELD — The Agape Band Singers will present a free Armed Forces Appreciation concert at 6 p.m. Saturday at Philadelphia United Methodist Church, 2265 U.S. 40 West.

Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to the outdoor concert.

There will be free soft drinks and popcorn and drawings for prizes along with an American music singalong.

Teenagers can create stop-animation shorts

GREENFIELD — Teens can learn the stop-motion technique for making animated movies used in “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox” from noon to 3 p.m. Monday at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road in Greenfield.

Participants will use a camera, clay and other found objects to produce a short film that could be shown at the library’s “Page Turners II” movie premiere in the fall.

Free Family Film Festival set at Legacy Cinema

GREENFIELD — At 10 a.m. every Wednesday throughout the summer, the Legacy Cinema, 2347 W. Main St., offers a free family movie.

This week’s movie is “Dolphin Tale 2.” In this continuation from “Dolphin Tale,” the team of people that saved the dolphin’s life reassemble in the wake of her surrogate mother’s passing in order to find her a companion so she can remain at the Clearwater Marine Hospital.
