Bobby ‘Bob’ J. Figg, 83, of Terre Haute, Ind., formerly of Linton, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home, on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. He was born in Sullivan County, Ind., on Dec. 2, 1931, to Russell and Agnes (Browning) Figg.

Bob was employed at General Motors Anderson Plant Delco Remy for 30 years before retiring in 1983. He was the owner/ builder of the first winning ASA (predecessor to NASCAR) race car at Anderson Speedway. Bob enjoyed restoring Ford trucks and he owned his own excavating company for several years.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Helton) Figg of Terre Haute; two daughters, Nancy (Dannie) Witter of West College Corner, Ind. and Brenda (John) Rhodes of Middletown, Ind.; daughter-in-law, Lisa (Chris) Oakes of Middletown, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Shane, Tiana, Christina, John-John, Lauren and Darin; eight great- grandchildren and one sister, Shelly (Carl) White of Paducah, Ky.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one and only son, Ronnie Figg; one brother, Gene Figg and one sister, Doris Mitchell.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4- 8 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2015, and from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.  Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015, the Anderson-Poindexter Dugger Chapel with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Bob will be laid to rest in the Woodward Cemetery in Dugger.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to CHARGE Syndrome/Sophia Rhodes, Ameriama Bank, 956 Beechwood Ave., Middletown, IN 47356. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
