CUMBERLAND — A Silver Alert for a missing 21-year-old Cumberland woman was canceled Wednesday afternoon when she was found in Dubois County.

Police issued the statewide alert on Wednesday morning for Kristyna Johns after she left a group home on Beckley Road off Buck Creek Road on the county’s west side Monday evening.

They believed she might have been in danger because she has intellectual disabilities that make her easier to influence, they added.

Police in Dubois County, which is about 135 miles southwest of Cumberland, found Johns unharmed with two acquaintances. On Wednesday afternoon, local authorities went there to bring her home.

Police credited the statewide alert for aiding them in finding Johns.

A Silver Alert is issued to aid in locating missing adults with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease or other developmental and intellectual disabilities.
