Donal Edwards, Sr., 79, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2015, at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1936, in Indianapolis, as the son of Marshall C. and Lulabelle (Stringer) Edwards.
He attended Arsenal Tech High School. He served in the Army from 1959-1961 during the Korean War. Donal married Betty Sue (Copeland) in October 1961 in Greenfield.
He worked for Allstate Insurance as an adjuster and then for Blossom Chevrolet as a body shop manager. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Donal is survived by his wife, Betty “Sue” Edwards of Greenfield; three children, Kathy Jones of Greenfield, Donal (Renee) Edwards, Jr. of Fortville, and Joella (David) Hedge of Greenfield; brother, Ronnie Carwien of Greenfield; six grandchildren, Brittany, Megan, Trey, Dillon, Hunter, and Della; three great- grandchildren, Angela, Madison, and Mason and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall C. and Lulabelle (Stringer) Edwards; nine sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be held from Noon- 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. Pastor Roger Kinion will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with military rites be presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
