Eleanor Miller Shay, 93, of Sayre, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at the Robert Packer Hospital following a brief illness. She was born February 1,1922, in Mehoopany, Pa., the daughter of the late Jesse and Blanche (Wintermute) Miller.
Until her retirement, she had worked for Westinghouse Electric. She was a life member of The Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW and American Legion, where she served as President. She was a member of the Moose and Red Hat Society. She was also a former Girl Scout leader and enjoyed outdoor activities. She was an avid reader and crafter.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia (Shay) and Larry Reeser of Indiana; granddaughter, Erin (Reeser) and Paul Wigger of Indianapolis; great- grandson, Bronson Wigger of Indianapolis; brother, John Leslie Miller of Victorville, Calif. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Shay; granddaughter, Leslie Reeser and sister, Emma Miller.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at the Church of the Redeemer, 201 S. Wilbur Ave., Sayre, Pa. with the Rev. Glenn Mahaffey officiating.
Burial will be in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Ft. Indiantown, Pa.
