Welby M. Key, 75 of New Palestine, lost his battle with ALS on May 31, 2015. He was born Oct. 18, 1939, in Tanbark, Ky. Welby founded Key Sheet Metal in 1994 with his son, David.

He was an avid fisherman and loved to be with friends on a lake anywhere. A grandchild said recently that he was “a man with a golden heart”.

He will forever be loved and missed by his family.

He is survived by his wife, of 23 years, Elaine Wallace Key, his four children, Steven (Chris), David (Pat), Brad (Jenny), Jennifer Key, step daughter, Kristen Love, his sisters, Carolyn (Wilson) Taylor and Betty (Louis) Smith, his brothers, Delton, Ira and Herman. He also leaves behind 11 wonderful and loving grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

Welby was preceded in death by his parents, Ack and Esther Key; brother, Shelby; a baby brother and his former wife, Carol Zook Key.

Friends may visit with Welby’s family from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis . A celebration of life being held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the funeral center.
