First Presbyterian plans tasty festival

GREENFIELD — First Presbyterian Church’s annual Strawberry Festival is set for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday outside the church, 116 W. South St. (corner of South and Pennsylvania streets). Strawberries, shortcake and ice cream will be served. Musicians often provide live entertainment for the diners.

New Beginning to honor youth

CUMBERLAND — New Beginning Baptist Church, 9801 E. Rawles Ave. in the Cumberland area, will have Youth Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

Concert will include hymn requests

MOHAWK — Andrew Filson will be in concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mohawk United Methodist Church, 2045 W. County Road 400N.

A reception will follow, and an offering will be received.

Filson, staff musician at the church, is studying music composition at Butler University. He received his undergraduate degree in music theory/composition from Anderson University in 2014, with his primary instrument being the piano.

Besides his work at Mohawk, Filson is an independent private piano instructor at The Slick Music Studio in Anderson and at the Butler Community Arts School in Indianapolis. His long-term goals include becoming a university music professor, teaching music theory and composition and freelance work as a composer.

The concert will feature original works, hymn arrangements and works of other composers. Musical styles will include neoclassical, romantic, blues and progressive rock. A portion of the concert will be dedicated to allowing the audience to call out a favorite hymn to be played.

Youth event features speaker, rapper

GREENFIELD — “Awakening Youth with Clayton Jennings” runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Brandywine Community Church, 1551 E. New Road.

This free event features Jennings — author, filmmaker and spoken word artist — along with his friend, Christian rap artist Blake Whiteley. Prizes also are in the plans. All area youth are invited. Parents also are welcome to attend.

Realife at park to feature music, games

GREENFIELD — Realife Church is offering a time of free food, bounce houses and other children’s activities from 4 to 7 p.m. June 6 at Riley Park.

The Anthony Ash Band will play a concert at 6 p.m. and has been asking visitors to its Facebook page for recommendations of a song to cover.

Motorcycle riders gather for fellowship

GREENFIELD — Members of the Crossroad Riders, the Greenfield chapter of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, meet at 9 a.m. the third Saturday of most months at Jim Dandy restaurant and also gather to enjoy rides together.

‘Godly Man’ study continues at New Life

FORTVILLE — New Life Christian Fellowship is offering a monthly study for men, “Living as a Godly Man in an Ungodly World.”

The study meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month.

Aug. 18: The Stability of a Godly Man
