HANCOCK COUNTY — Third-grade students at Weston Elementary School recently helped arrange a display of dioramas that were completed as part of an animal report.

Each student chose an animal to research, using books from the library. Based on their research, students wrote descriptive paragraphs regarding the animal’s appearance, habitat, range, diet and interesting facts.

Students also built dioramas to represent the animal’s habitat and could be as creative as desired. Some drew animals, printed them, created them or bought animal figurines. Backgrounds consisted of everything from construction paper to real grass and sand.

The students’ next two areas of concentration will be insects and states.
