Max E. Stanley, 93, of Knightstown, died Thursday, May 21, 2015. He was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Connersville, to the late Alpha and Anna Laverna (Bicknell) Stanley.

A veteran of the Navy, Max served as an Aviation Metal Smith Second Class during World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Loren (Katherine) Stanley of Greenfield and Kenneth (Jean) Stanley of Rushville; a daughter Marianne (Denny) Gergely of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; brother, Richard Stanley of Columbia City and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, of 72 years, Wilma Stanley in 2014 and three brothers.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the funeral home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel with Deacon Russ Woodard officiating. Military rites will be conducted by a contingent from the United States Navy and American Legion Post #152. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery in Connersville.
