NEW PALESTINE — More than 250 guests took part in a spaghetti dinner recently at Zion Lutheran School.

As people walked through the door, they stepped into an Italian restaurant-like setting, with checkered tablecloths, candles at the tables, and Italian love songs playing in the background.

The wait staff, hosts, hostesses and managers were all seventh- and eighth-grade students at Zion. This annual event is a fundraiser for a trip taken by these classes each year. This year’s trip is to Milwaukee and Chicago. More than $1,200 was raised at this event.

The spaghetti was topped with a sauce prepared by third-grade teacher Kristen Brutcher and Principal Kristie Sombke. Breadsticks were provided by Mozzi’s, and tea was provided by McAlister’s.

Parents provided behind-the-scenes assistance with food preparation, filling plates to be served, washing dishes and contributing the wide dessert selection.
