Storytelling guild set to meet at Greenfield library

GREENFIELD — Link wisdom with experience at the Hancock County “As I Recall’ Storytelling Guild” at 1 p.m. Monday in the Hancock County Public Library.

Those who attend develop techniques to engage listeners during monthly get-togethers. Meetings are informal and open to anyone interested.

The guild was made possible by a grant from Storytelling Arts of Indiana.

Indie Arts, Urban Flea Market start this week

INDIANAPOLIS —The first of the summer Indie Arts and Urban Flea Markets will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Held second Saturdays through September, this market promotes local business and artisans, sustainable goods and services, health and wellness and environmental responsibility. In addition to food trucks, a selection of local beer, wine and spirits will be available.

The event sits directly on the Cultural Trail at 626 N. New Jersey St. in Indianapolis.

Celebrate need for speed in May at Indy library

IRVINGTON — The Irvington Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library, 5625 E. Washington St., will present a time capsule collection of Indy 500 highlight films at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

This series features some films that have not been shown in years. See the cars and drivers in these films, typically 25 to 30 minutes in length, that present a history of the month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Films shown include “The Crucible of Speed” (1946), “Speedway Sound Of The Sixties” (1960) and “Run Fast Run All Day” (1971).
