Betty Wood, 87, a longtime resident of New Palestine, passed away April 29, 2015. Betty was born in North Vernon, Ind., on July 30, 1927, to Ralph and Ruth Miller. She married Paul “Tom” Wood on June 1, 1946 and together had two children.
Betty was employed at I.U. bookstore as a clerk for many years. She greatly enjoyed watching hummingbirds, but her real passion was always her family.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Steve (Denise) Wood and Kevin (Sharon) Wood; three grandsons, James Wood, David (Hannah) Wood, and Daniel Wood and three great- grandchildren, Korbyn, Autumn and Elijah Wood, who lovingly knew her as “More Mammaw” and her two sisters, Joyce (Richard) Arthur, and Shirley (Jim) Wheeler.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Tom.
Services for Betty Wood will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday May 4, 2015, at Hendryx Mortuary New Palestine Chapel, with visitation from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday May 3, 2015. Burial will be at New Palestine Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
