Ensemble to present opera’s greatest hits

GREENFIELD — The Indianapolis Opera Ensemble will introduce and present a sampling of music from well-known operas “La Bohème,” “The Magic Flute” and “The Marriage of Figaro” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hancock County Public Library. The ensemble will add a few Broadway standards from Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” to this up-close and personal singing experience. This free concert is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Hancock County Public Library through the sale of donated books, DVDs and CDs. The library is at 900 W. McKenzie Road in Greenfield.

Free Comic Book Day to include costumes

GREENFIELD — Hometown Comics will be part of national Free Comic Book Day on Saturday. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1506 N. State St., visitors will receive two comic books per person while supplies last. Local anime artist Gloria Pike will be on hand for art sales, and participants can take advantage of free face painting. A costume contest will take place at 2 p.m. with prizes for winners. All ages are welcome.

Square dance group organizes craft fair

GREENFIELD — The Riley Wranglers Square Dance Club’s annual spring craft fair runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Hancock County 4-H Fairgrounds. The event features 120 vendors selling food, crafts, soap, home improvement items, woodcraft, quilts, art, paintings and photography. Food will be for sale, and children are welcome to play in the bounce house or take a pony ride.
