GREENFIELD — Two additional officers have been hired at the Greenfield Police Department, bringing the staff back to full force, Chief John Jester said.

Nick Wright and Blake Crull both will become patrol officers after their roughly three months of training is complete.

Wright is originally from Demotte in northwest Indiana. He served several years in the U.S. Army as an infantry soldier before starting work with the Marion County Jail, he said.

Joining the Greenfield Police Department means stepping into a role that better allows him to serve the community while also maintaining a career with a military-like job structure, he said.

Crull is a Greenfield native and graduate of Greenfield-Central High School. He studied law enforcement at Vincennes University and previously completed an internship with the department, he said.

In joining the city’s department, Crull is following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Bob Young, who worked 35 years for the department before recently retiring, Crull said. In addition to the two hires, several officers have received promotions, Jester said: Chuck McMichael is now a sergeant; Ryan Chapel is now a corporal; and C.W. Moran is now a lieutenant.
