Mt. Vernon school board slated to hire A.D.
Current New Castle High School athletics director Brandon Ecker is slated to take the same position at Mt. Vernon High School, if approved by the school board Monday.
The Mt. Vernon Schools Corporation lists Ecker under the Personnel: Recommendation for Employment section of it’s Monday agenda.
Ecker would take over for Mt. Vernon assistant principals Greg Roach and Derek Shelton, who have shared athletics director duties since the position was eliminated several years ago due to budget concerns.

Last week: Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe won the rainy inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana. Twenty-five of the 47 laps were run under caution.
Fast facts: The race is the third of the season. Team Penske’s Juan Pablo Montoya won the opener March 29 in St. Petersburg, Florida. … Penske’s Will Power, the defending series champion, was second at St. Petersburg and seventh in Louisiana. He won at Long Beach in 2008 and 2012. … In 2013 at Long Beach, A.J.
