Larry Burris, 71, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice. He was born on Nov. 27, 1943, in Beech Grove, as the son of Ola Lilbert and Isabelle (McNally) Burris.

He graduated from New Palestine High School in 1961. He married Emma Lou (Kleine) on Oct. 6, 1962.

Larry worked for Ford Motor Company for 36 years before retiring in 2001. He was a lifelong member of the NRA as well as a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church, Ducks Unlimited, Varmit Hunters Association, Indiana Gun Club, National Sporting Clays Association, Hillis Wing Shooters, and UAW Local 1111.

Larry enjoyed hunting, reloading and field trials for hunting dogs. He loved his champion bird dog, Thor, and beagle, Burton. He also enjoyed competitive skeet shooting and bench rest shooting, where he won several competitions.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Emma Lou Burris; daughter Cindy Tucker; grandson Jake (Gabrielle) Tucker; several cousins; nieces and nephews; and great-granddaughter Emma is expected June 7, 2015

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ola and Isabelle Burris.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN, 46140. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, also at the mortuary. Hubert Nolen and Father Joe Newton will be officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Park East in Indianapolis. Larry did not like to wear suits, so dress casual in his honor.
