Elizabeth Jane (Byrne) Legault, 82, of New Palestine, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at her residence. She was born on July 11, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, as the daughter of William and Bessie (Jordan) Byrne.

She graduated from Annunciation High School in 1950. Elizabeth married James Legault Sr. on Sept. 7, 1953, in Trenton, Michigan.

She was a homemaker. Mrs. Legault was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and was a 25 year plus member for The Cheer Guild at Riley Children’s Hospital where she also received a lifetime achievement award, and had served as a board secretary.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, James J. (Laura) Legault Jr. of Indianapolis, Kenneth W. (Renee) Legault of Greenwood, and John B. (Marji) Legault of New Palestine; daughters Kathleen A. Legault of Casper, Wyoming, and Jane M. (Tony) Koontz of Ellettsville, Indiana; brothers James Byrne of Allen Park, Michigan, and Donald Byrne of Washington, Michigan; sister Rosemary Reilly of Pueblo, Colorado; grandchildren, Nathan (Julia) Legault, Joseph Legault, Kristina Koontz, Alyssa Koontz, Kevin Legault, Mark Legault, Kerrie Legault, Luke Legault, Timothy Armstrong, Mandy Kindt, and Shalynn Foster; step-grandchildren, Summer Allen, Joshua Cleary, Autumn Harris, and Kenneth Harris; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bessie (Jordan) Byrne; husband James Legault Sr.; and brother Bill Byrne.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, with a Rosary Service at 3:45 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN, 46140. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield, IN, 46140. Father Joe Newton will be officiating.
