Michael “Mike” Allen Leyden, 55, of New Palestine, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Franciscan St. Francis Health. He was born on Feb. 3, 1960, in Greenfield, as the son of David A. and Joyce A. (Lykins) Leyden. He was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. Mike married Tracey Lynn (Strout) on March 25, 2002 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
He worked for Control Laser Corporation for 15 years. Mr. Leyden enjoyed watching football and was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and followed Peyton Manning. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his two special fur babies Gadget and Sissy.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Tracey Leyden of New Palestine; mother, Joyce Leyden of Indianapolis; daughter, Christian Stanford of Valparaiso; sons, Tim “Mookie” (Pam) Leyden of Valparaiso and Stephen (Leslie) Leyden of Demotte; eight grandchildren, Anna, Lexi, Ben, Cam, Frank, Nick, Kenzie, and Stephen; cousins, Deb “Sis” (Kevin) O’Dell of Greenfield, Chad (Sally) Carlton, and Luke (Courtney) Martin; sister, Nancee (Doug) Life of Indianapolis; nephew, Elliott Life and mother-in-law, Sally Strout of Bradley, Maine.
He was preceded in death by his father, David A. Leyden; grandparents, Elsie Lykins & Ernest Lykins; sons, Paul David Leyden and Michael Allen Leyden, II; grandson, Travis Michael Leyden and aunt, Betty VanWhy.
Visitation will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2 p.m. Pastor Paul Galbraith will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
