Peggy J. Butler, 85 of Greenfield went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 27, 2015. She was born June 8, 1929, in Connersville, Indiana, to the late Fred and Capitola (Thumb) Showalter, Jr.

Peggy married Kenneth S. Butler on Dec. 23, 1950. Together they made their home in Greenfield and raised their family. Peggy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a nurse’s aide at Hancock Regional Hospital retiring after 20 years of service. Peggy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and very proud of her husband and families legacy with the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen.

She is survived by sons Alan Butler, Mark (Sue) Butler; daughters Pamela Whitted, Teresa (Joe) Helton; grandchildren Craig Young, Hollie Zehnder, Cortney Bow, Adrian Butler and Megan Butler; and six great-grandchildren.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth S. Butler; son Kenneth B. Butler; and daughter Kendra Jo Socco.

Friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 30, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1450 W. Main St., Greenfield, IN, 46140. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Pastor Roger Kinion officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.
