James “Jim” E. Jeffers Jr., 86, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Community Hospital North. He was born on Sept. 24, 1928, in Terre Haute, Indiana, as the son of James E. and Margaret (Sheedy) Jeffers.
He graduated from Gerestmeyer High School in 1946. Jim married Beverly J. (Bigelow) on Feb. 23, 1980, in Terre Haute.
He worked for Chrysler Corportation as a general foreman for over 30 years, before retiring in 1984. Mr. Jeffers was a member of Heather Hills Baptist Church and was an avid Colts fan.
Jim is survived by his son, Michael E. Jeffers of Greenfield; stepson Todd L. (Patty) Rowe of Lafayette, Indiana; stepdaughter Kimberly A. (Brian) Brown of Tangier, Indiana; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Margaret (Sheedy) Jeffers; wife Beverly Jeffers; and sister Elizabeth Byers.
Visitation will be held from 2 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN, 46140. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015, at the mortuary. Reverend Robert Hays will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
