GREENFIELD — A bill that prohibits municipally owned utilities from taking electric territories from other companies during annexations passed a House committee 12-1 Wednesday.

Senate Bill 309 passed 12-1 out of committee and now heads to the full House for consideration. It already has passed the Senate.

The measure, written by Sen. Mike Crider, R-Greenfield, has had local officials at odds; Greenfield city officials are against it while NineStar Connect company officials are in favor of it.
