Q. What’s your weekly fitness routine?

A. I come in Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and I pretty much do the same thing every day: treadmill and weights.

I usually use the treadmill for about 20 to 25 minutes a day, with the speed escalating (each day of the week).

With the weights, I’ll use pretty much all of the machines. They have a set program for me that tells me which machines to use and how much weight to (lift). (Some machines include) chest press and leg press … I do about 200 pounds on the leg press each day of the week. … Sometimes I’ll do the arm bike instead of the treadmill.

Q. What inspired you to begin a regular workout routine?

A. My doctor told me I needed to lose some weight. I took him up on it right away. … I’ve been coming here since the middle of January.

Q. How much weight have you lost since you began exercising regularly? Do you have a target weight in mind?

A. I’ve lost almost 22 pounds. I’d like to lose another 50. … But that’s going to be a while (laughs). Probably two or three more months.

Q. Why is it something you have stuck with?

A. Because I need to. I’ll probably have to do this the rest of my life.

Q. How do you make time to work out?

A. I try to come in the middle part of the day, during lunch.

Q. How do you stay motivated?

A. I’ve (seen results). I’ve lost a lot of weight and followed the program, which is a great program here.

Q. Do you have a favorite exercise?

A. The treadmill. It’s gets your heart rate up. That’s the key to it, getting your heart rate up. You can really feel yourself getting healthier.

Q. Is there any exercise you dread doing but do anyway?

A. Not really. I mean everybody has weaknesses, but I don’t really dislike any of it.

Q. Are you on a special diet or eating plan? Do you let yourself cheat much?

A. I’m on a low-carb diet. It means I get plenty of protein. I eat a lot of eggs and meat and just stay away from breads and cereals. … (I have not cheated) the last couple of months. I’ve been sticking to it, … but if I do (cheat), it will probably be pizza or maybe White Castle. But they are the worst thing you can eat (laughs). If you ever looked up what’s in them, you wouldn’t eat one again.

Q. Do you have a favorite fitness moment?

A. It’s all been really great. But when I lost 20 pounds, I really felt like I was making progress.

Q. What advice would you give someone who wants to begin working out?

A. You just have to make time in your day to do it. Whether it’s early in the morning or late at night, you just have to do it. It’s doesn’t take much time. Spend an hour at the gym. …You just tell yourself you have to.

Q. What’s the benefit of having a personal trainer?

A. He drives me. He increases everything to try and make me do more. …He’s really positive. He just tells me, ‘You have to keep going, you have to keep working.’ I think he’s necessary to my getting healthier.
