In the article on the New Palestine football team’s state championship rings Thursday, Jostens should have been listed as the maker of the rings. Herff Jones is officially endorsed by the Indiana High School Athletic Association, but schools may select their own ring-maker. Only Herff Jones may use “IHSAA” or the IHSAA logo, however.

Cougars softball team sets tryout dates

Tryouts for the Greenfield-Central High School softball team will be conducted at 3:45 p.m. March 9 in the Greenfield-Central Fieldhouse. Interested student-athletes must have a complete physical on file, along with all other athletics paperwork turned into the athletics office, to participate before tryouts. See Mrs. Harris in the athletics office for paperwork. No exceptions.

Boosters schedule 3-on-3 tournament

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters will conduct their annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament March 14 at Eastern Hancock Schools. The tourney will consist of five divisions of play for boys and girls, as well as an open division for those older than high school age.

Early registrations are due March 7. Space permitting, registrations will be accepted from 9 to 10 a.m. the day of the tourney. For more information, including an entry form, visit the school websites at ehathletics.org or ehhoops.org, or contact Greg Hall at [email protected].

The Eastern Hancock Youth Baseball Program is accepting registrations for boys and girls in 6U, 9U and 12U leagues. Register with Lorrie Edwards in the high school athletics office. Cost is $50 per player. Volunteers for coaching and umpiring are sought. For more information, contact Stu Fisher at [email protected].

Big Ten Tournament: The 18th annual Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament will be March 11 through 15 at the United Center in Chicago. It will feature a five-day format for the first time in conference history. All 14 teams will advance to the tournament, with two first-round games slated for March 11. The top four teams will receive first- and second-round byes and advance to the quarterfinals.
