Singers invited to join concert at Palladium

GREENFIELD — Chris Lamb, director of the Greenfield Community Choir, is looking for singers and orchestra members who would like to be a part of performing “Carmina Burana” on June 28 at the Palladium in Carmel .

Area artists encouraged to submit work for contest

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Arts and Cultural Council is calling for Indiana artists to participate in the 2015 Will Vawter Art Competition and Exhibit from April 11 to May 8.

The Vawter has a new date for 2015 because the council wants the show to be aligned with Greenfield artist and illustrator Will Vawter’s birthday April 13. This will be the first Vawter show at the new home of the Hancock County Arts and Cultural Council, Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St., Suite A, in downtown Greenfield.

The Vawter Art Competition, in its seventeenth year, is a juried art exhibit. Entry is open to all Indiana artists in the following categories: Oil and Acrylic, Watercolor, and Everything Else 2D. The entry fee is $35 per artist for up to three entries.

Art Council members participate at a discounted rate of $25. Registrations must be postmarked by March 28. Awards range from $100 to $1,000.

Learn improv skills during upcoming class in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — If you were on hand for the IndyProv performance a couple of weeks ago at the Hancock Public Library and liked what you saw, you now have the opportunity to learn how to become as witty and funny and off-the-cuff as the IndyProv group.

“The Basics of Improvisation” a class on how to think on your feet, play to your strengths, go for the big laughs and be the life of the party, starts Tuesday and runs for six weeks through April 21.

The class will be conducted in the community room of the Starbucks on Massachusetts Avenue. Registration is $130. Call 317-721-3001.
