John was a man of great faith. He was baptized and worshipped at Curry’s Chapel Methodist Church until being confirmed into the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church in 1959 following his marriage to Donna Marie Hoff at Trinity Lutheran Church, Indianapolis in 1958. Throughout his life, he served his church and community. As a member of Faith Lutheran Church, he served two terms as Council President, led two building phases as Committee Chair, and served as Youth Group Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Leader, Elder, Usher, and Trustee.

Farm Bureau Director, Farm Bureau Insurance Director, Jackson Township Trustee Board, Hancock County Plat Committee, Hancock County Community Foundation Board, and Simmons Cemetery Board.  He enjoyed meeting many people through these experiences.

He is survived by his wife, of 56 years, Donna and two brothers George and Paul Scott.
