Janet Sue (Bright) Reeves, 78, of Greenfield, passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospice. She was born on May 27, 1936, in Shirley, Ind., as the daughter of Jacob and Opal (Railsback) Bright.
She graduated from Wilkinson High School in 1954. Janet married Harvey Reeves on April 16, 1955, in Shirley.
She was a secretary at the Division of Family and Children for many years before retiring in 1998. She had previously worked for Reeves Sand & Gravel as the office manager.
She and her husband ran a euchre club at the Greenfield Elks Club. Janet enjoyed playing cards, and taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandbabies. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Janet is survived by her husband, Harvey Reeves of Greenfield; daughters, Debbie (David) Jackson and Kim (Dan) Devoy both of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Nathan Jackson, Megan (Chad) Wallace, Nicole (Aaron Haney) Raffaelli, and Dante (Kaitlin Moore) Raffaelli; six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Clara, Charles, Molly, Cameron, and Leo; sisters, Marilyn Carlton of Wilkinson and Patsy (Tony) Baker of Anderson; sister-in-law, Joan Miller of Illinois; brother-in-law, Elden Apple of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Opal (Railsback) Bright; and siblings, Reona, Betty, Leon, and Johnny.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, also at the mortuary. Pastor Fred Girdwood will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
