Marjorie P. (McKeeman) Brooks, 85, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on Aug. 6, 1929, in Hancock County as the daughter of Cleo and Mae (Alford) McKeeman. Marjorie married Ivan D. Brooks on Aug. 22, 1948, in Mohawk, Ind.
She was a self-employed hair stylist at Marge’s Beauty Shop in Greenfield. Marjorie was a member of Park Chapel Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sports, IU Basketball, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and telling stories of days gone by.
Marjorie is survived by her son, Kenny (Debbie) Brooks of Greenfield; daughters, Marsha (Jack) Collins-Brown and Melia (Mike) Sears both of Greenfield; brothers, Bill (Lois) McKeeman, Donnie McKeeman, and Joe McKeeman; sister, Bonnie Welbaum; four grandchildren, Holly (Paul) Brooks Smith, Ryan (Kinsey) Collins, Cara (Jay) Archer, and Josiah (Lyndee) Sears; four stepgrandchildren, Shantelle (Andy) Ebbert and Alisha (Giuseppe) Cavaletto, Sara Rummel, and Deanna (James) Sargent; 10 great-grandchildren, Tinley, Bo, Emily, Tyler, Abby, Mikayla, Luci, Ivan, Ashley, Olivia; and Baby Collins and Baby Archer soon to be born. She was lovingly known as “Aunt Margie” by her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Mae (Alford) McKeeman; husband, Ivan Brooks; and brothers, Russ, Max, Pete, Bob, and Rex “Lefty”.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, also at the mortuary. Pastor David Woods will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
