David “Reid” Evans

David “Reid” Evans, 92, of Fortville, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born March 21, 1922, in Terre Haute, to Oscar and Tilly (Houston) Evans.

Reid retired from Indianapolis Public Schools in 1993 after teaching auto mechanics at Arsenal Technical High School. He had also worked as a Snap-On Tools sales representative. Reid was a private pilot and a member of the Fortville American Legion Post #391, Fortville VFW Post #6904, NRA, NEA (National Education Association) and the AOPA (Airplane Owners and Pilots Association).

Reid was also a veteran of the 7th Army Air Corps having served in WW II.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen (Paris) Evans whom he married July 1, 1981; daughter, Mettawee “Stormy” Runion; son, Raymond “Bo” (Amy) Malone, Jr.; grandchildren, John Runion, Rachel Runion and Alexandra Malone; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Madison Runion; sister, Rose Shaw; brother, John “Jack” Evans and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Juanita Evans; sisters, Floy Lloyd and Pearl Lucas and brother, Walter Evans.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the time of service. A Celebration of Reid’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wheeler Mission in David's honor.
