GREENFIELD — Police are still investigating an accident that killed a Greenfield woman and closed the road for several hours Tuesday night.
Evelyn Ison, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash after her vehicle collided with three others on County Road 600W near County Road 1000N.
Ison wasn’t wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, and it’s unclear where she was going.
Speed might have been a factor in the crash, but police are still gathering information to determine its cause.
The collision happened about 8:30 p.m., just south of County Road 1000N near the Highland Springs subdivision, and closed the road until about 2 a.m. Wednesday while police investigated.
Police said Ison was traveling north on 600W when her 2004 Nissan Titan crossed the center line and sparked a chain of events that ultimately affected six vehicles.
Ison’s car sideswiped two southbound vehicles, one driven by Abigail Johnson, 17, of Greenfield, and the other driven by Dustin Bradberry, 39, of McCordsville.
The collision caused Johnson’s Toyota Prius and Bradberry’s Kia Sportage to spin out.
Ison’s pickup truck then struck a 2009 Hyundai Sonata, causing it to overturn.
Christopher Stump, 39, of Indianapolis, was driving the Sonata. He and his passenger were taken to Indianapolis hospitals to be treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Information on their conditions was not available at press time.
Two additional vehicles traveling behind Stump’s vehicle sustained damage after running over the debris scattered across the road.
Kacie Amour, 17, of McCordsville, was driving a Kia Forte, and Dustin Dake, 30, of Fishers, was driving a Toyota Camry. Both cars were damaged by debris from the accident, but the drivers were unhurt.
